Make Youtube Videos About Technology? Why not… The Cross-Cloud Guy

Intro

It’s been a while since I posted anything on TheVirtualist, and there are bunch of reasons (mostly excuses) of course. The main reason was lack of motivation in these crazy times we are living in (for people from future we are currently in Global pandemic). This post will be very short.

Anyway, I am not here to complain, but rather to announce that I decided to try and post couple of videos on YouTube. YouTube is a new type of media for me, never posted anything before, so it is all new experience.

Before I share the link, let me first share a bit from what I have done so far and what my vision is.

So, the type of videos I posted so far are not really traditional. The format I chose, might be rather unappealing to some people. Here is the thing, see, I often need a guidance very fast on some specific feature, but most of the channels on YouTube, while showing what’s needed, include a lot of unnecessary narration. This makes 5 minutes worth of information into 1 hour video. I get it, people post content, the longer the content the longer the view time, the longer the view more money, etc., etc., etc. (I am sure there are other reasons).

In my case, I am not really after money (at least definitely not yet ;)), plus my English is not very great. What I am trying to make is a fast and simple guidance to specific solutions. The keyword is FAST. The videos I creates so far are very fast, so if you want to follow the steps covered there you will need to pause or slow down the playback speed on the video.

What comes to my vision, and what I plan to do next? Well, YouTube is not my primary job for sure, but as part of my real job I happen to do a lot of testing and solutioning, Also, I like to play in a Lab on my free time. So, my plan is to try and record most of the things I do (mainly the valuable things) and then share the content with everyone.

I am also considering doing some live streams, but I am not sure what kind of content would suit a life stream to be honest (live deployment of NSX-T may be, or something similar?). Let me know if you have any ideas.

Welcome The Cross-Cloud Guy

So, let’s get to the point, I named the channel “The Cross-Cloud Guy”. Not the most creative name, I know. The reason is the fact that I do a lot of stuff at work related to solutions spanning many different Clouds.

As of today, I’ve published only 4 videos, and I have like 13 subscribers. The Videos I posted are mainly around Tanzu (TKGm, TKGs) and NSX Advanced Load Balancer(AVI), it just so happened that I was actually working on evaluation or those products for one solution I was working on, so I decided to share it with everyone.

Here is the link to the “The Cross-Cloud Guy” YouTube page. I will also embed the videos I have published so far, take a look, let me know what you think, and of course feel free to like and subscribe.
