Last week, we had an opportunity to host Nathan and Mark from StorMagic, UK, who came to Brno, CZ, to give us more insight to their SvSAN solution. Roman Macek already wrote about the solution here.
But why am I writing about something that is quite common to happen?
Well, first of all, it is not that common to TheVirtualist.org yet as we are a fresh and young society that is just exploring the outer world. Also, all our members are technical guys that deal with large and deep technical solutions, and I can say that at a very high level. But meeting professionals from other progressive companies, discussing about their solutions to not only understand the technical part but business aspects as well … this is a new experience. And and important one. Best performing once the people meet in flesh.
Second, almost all of The Virtualists are affiliated with large IT firms, as you can see from our profiles. But the world is changing with enormous speed within the IT area and the new phenomenons are coming. These can’t be addressed with agility, efficiency and speed through traditional IT solutions. That’s why I invited other specialists working with traditional SAN within IBM Delivery Center, Brno, CZ, to this session to meet alternate reality.
The StorMagic solution is for big clients with a large number of remote office/branch office (ROBO). Such big companies usually use big service providers to maintain their IT backbone. And these big providers must nowadays consider new, fast growing solutions. Those, that are not coming from their own shops but can address the client needs, bring new technology and, of course, offer a good financial case. This transition of thinking and planning for IT services and solutions is inevitable. And I believe the big providers can do it. They have to. And they have already started.
We at TheVirtulist.org are happy to help a little with these new partnerships.
